Can you BEE-lieve it? Beezus is blogging.
She’s buzzin’, she’s boppin', and now she’s bloggin’. Buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride!
Hello and welcome. I am beyond BEE-lighted that you’re here. My name is Bridget, BK, B … but, I am most honored when you call me “Whollybeezus” :)
I’m a Chicago advertising lady by trade. I have a knack for all things creative and, yes, slightly kooky. Day-in and day-out I work in the biz of storytelling. In fact, ‘they’ say the most successful are those who can captive an audience by creating an undeniably interesting tale. Interesting? Okay. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve. Grab a seat, cozy up, and listen in. Let’s begin… ‘Whollybeezus style’.
Now this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned and health-jazzed, POW!
And I’d like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I’ll tell you how I BEE-came the ‘queen’ of health & self-care
… are you interested yet?! Let’s proceed!
Now, I could just continue the story by writing a clever play on DJ Jazzy Jeff’s lyrics. What are your thoughts on turning ‘born and raised’ into “likin’ them donuts glazed’? Jokes. But let me give you the deets in a more organized and sensical manner…
You Ask: Who is @Whollybeezus?
I’m a gal on a health and wellness ‘adventure’.
Ad-ven-ture (n.): an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity.
Exciting – yes. Unusual – slightly. Hazardous – TBD; but beezus, you know never know!
This all started about a year ago (May 2016) when I heard rumblings about this ‘lifestyle diet’ (gasp!) that was gaining popularity: The Whole30. I was curious. I did my research. The rules state that for 30 days you eliminate certain food groups (sugar, grains, daily and legumes) that are believed to provoke inflammation within the body. It is strict! But astonishingly, people consistently raved about how energized and great they felt as a result of completing a Whole30. At the time, I might have been drinking the Whole30 Kool-Aid (it was sugar-free of course), but I was up for the challenge! I completed the 30 days. It wasn’t easy by any means and I spent countless hours meal prepping like a buffoon. But I learned a lot about health and wellness. And honestly, those W30 advocates were not lying. I was fueled by lean proteins, health fats, fruits and veggies, and dang, I really did feel great.
I documented those 30 days on a separate Instagram that I cleverly coined @Whollybeezus. I relished in snapping artsy pictures of my W30-friendly meals and accompanying Flywheel workouts. And, in return, I discovered tons of recipes, along with tips and tricks from fellow health and wellness IG-ers. So, when my 30 days came to an end, I vowed to keep the train going and adopt a modified lifestyle.
So that’s where I am today. Whollybeezus continues to buzz... with just a tad more sugar in her bod, and a smidge more health & wellness knowledge in her brain!
You Ask: @Whollybeezus, what will you blog about?
VEGETABLES. Really, I’m not joking. I love my roasted veggies and buddhabowls (do yourself a favor and search #buddhabowls on IG; you will be amazed… and then start drooling). And although I’m no longer on the strict Whole30 plan, I am always on the hunt for healthy, whole, feel good food. I’m just trying to keep it fresh and keep it clean, clean :)
I’ll throw in some fitness posts too. As I mentioned before, I’m a cycling gal and I love Flywheel. Believe me, I’m no Lance Armstrong, but turn on some good beats, let me clip in, and I’m one happy gal.
I also recently got a bike. So when the warmer temps finally decide to show up, you might see some beezus-biking shenanigans throughout Chicago. I gave the bike a name, of course, because that's normal, right? Hmm, we'll save that story for a future post.
Lastly, You Ask: Why blog, @Whollybeezus?
The blog is a big step for me. @Whollybeezus is my little brainchild. She's evolved from those early days on Instagram, and she'll continue to evolve. Let me tell you, she's a busy bee bursting with ideas of things to write about! I’m excited to finally bring her into the blogging world, but please, BEE-kind. We’ve been practicing, people. You know, crossing our T’s, dotting our I’s… and beezus, I think we’re finally ready!
Stay tuned! Have you ever met a bee that bops? Well, she’s one-of-kind and not afraid of the grind #buzzbuzz, let’s go, B!
