Chicago Healthy Hot Spots: Graze

In celebration of summer quickly approaching [claps and snaps] and everyone boppin' around the city, I thought it might be fun to create a lil series which documents a handfull of healthy restaurants throughout Chicago. I'll share some of my faves and I'd love it if you sent me yours! Deal?? K. We can even venture out together for a healthy eats field trip. Don't mind Beezy, she's a diva with a bit of a 'tude, but I'll make sure she isn't rude :) 

Now, without a doubt, I'm a pretty basic bee. No denying it. And what does every basic b love?! SMOOTHIES. What happens when said smoothie is then  blended up, put in a bowl, and topped with granola goodness?! I lose my shiz. 

So with that, let me introduce the first healthy hot spot on my list... GRAZE! Now Graze has two locations in Chicago - one within the workout studio, Studio Three, and the other in Rival Food Hall. This particular adventure took place at the Studio Three location (648 N Clark Street).

It's teeny tiny, but their menu is packed with some serious goodies. They serve a small selection of either smoothies (5 variations) or bowls (4 variations). They also have cold-pressed juices, coffee and tea on tap. I heard through the grapevine (ahem, KP, thanks girl!) that their bowls were bomb.com, or perhaps #damngood ... so I was VERY excited to try one. 

They serve two various of traditional acai bowls (pt 1 & pt 2), a banana cashew bowl and an avocado matcha bowl. All of the bowls are made with natural ingredients and are topped with a variety of fresh fruit and raw superfoods. They're 100% vegan, 100% gluten-free, and rich in protein. Now, deciding which bowl to order between those 4 choices was tough. But I ultimatley stayed true to my basic b roots and went with the avocado matcha. The ingredients included: avocado, matcha, mango, coconut, goji berry, lime and granola. 

It was delicious! Slightly unexpected. But delicious, nonetheless. The base had a thick, sorbet-like consistency and the texture was oh so smooth. The toppings added that needed crunch and the sweetness of the mango + coconut chips was just divine! The lime added a nice zesty kick too. Beezy gives this a 10 outta 10!

Next time around I'm jonesin' to try the acai bowl. The pt. 2 specifically because it has almond butter. Yeah buddy. A group of people sitting next to us ordered 3 of them, so I was able to get a sneak peek. And, if you'd like a quick fun fact on acai... "studies have shown that it is richer in antioxidants than most other berries and contains high amounts of nutritious fiber and heart-healthy fats". Sign me up! According to the menu, the acai bowl is bursting with blueberries, banana, raspberries, granola, coconut flakes, cacao nibs, and hemp seeds. Yep, yep that will definitely be next on my list.
